The field was pretty close during qualifying for the United States Grand Prix. In the end, it seemed to be Max Verstappen again who would run away with pole position for Sunday, but the Dutchman saw his time scrapped due to track limits. As a result, it is not Verstappen, but Charles Leclerc who gets to start the Formula 1 race from P1.
Verstappen struggled throughout qualifying. In Q1 and Q2 he failed to set the fastest time, but in Q3 he made the most of it. By five-thousandths of a second, he dipped below Leclerc's fastest time, but he could not enjoy it for long: the Red Bull Racing driver lost his time for exceeding track limits.
As a result, Verstappen drops back to P6. The other spot on the front row alongside Leclerc is for Lando Norris, who sees Lewis Hamilton and Carlos Sainz start behind him. Behind them are George Russell and Verstappen on the third row of the grid.
