Pierre Gasly is happy with the 'strong' job Alpine did over the past triple header and claims the French racing stable will be 'in the mix' in the coming weekends. Alpine's progress since their debacle-like start to the 2024 season, has been quite tangible with them edging ever-so-slightly into the advantage the top teams currently have.
After a rather unlucky start to the current campaign, Alpine's results have gotten consistently stronger with a P8 in Bahrain and
a suprising P1 in FP1 in Saudi Arabia, being the highlights of the team's season so far, something Gasly, naturally, makes note of, in conversation with media, like
GPblog, after the race in Jeddah.
"I think honestly the team the last few weekends really put a good effort in understanding the car and trying to maximise weekend after weekend."
Gasly and teammate Jack Doohan in Saudi Arabia.
Gasly puts Alpine 'in the mix' for the coming F1 races
Whereas Alpine's results have often been plagued by inconsistency in the past, this does not seem to be the case anymore, and Gasly praises the team for this.
"It does feel that we've done a strong job over the triple header so I feel like we are back in a position where we can fight for those points finishes which is the most important."
"It's going to be a long year and it does feel you need to grab these opportunities as soon as they are available, but I'm not too worried with the pace we have. I'm confident that we'll be able to put ourselves in the mix in the next few weekends."
