Yuki Tsunoda joins AlphaTauri in 2021 where he becomes Pierre Gasly's new teammate. The Frenchman is open to a new teammate and has already met Tsunoda.

In 2021, Tsunoda will be the first Japanese driver in Formula 1 since Kamui Kobayashi in 2014. Tsunoda has proven himself in the junior classes and showed that he has great talent, especially in 2020 in Formula 2. He became the best rookie and received the Anthoine Hubert award, named after the best friend of his new teammate.

Gasly happy with new teammate

"He's a funny boy," says Gasly according to Formel1.de. ''I've seen him on pole a couple of times this year and he's also done some good races. Sometimes he has left some important points behind this season, but I don't remember exactly why. Sometimes it wasn't his fault, but sometimes it was," said the Frenchman.

At the presentation of the award for best rookie, Tsunoda was praising Hubert, something that falls well with Pierre. ''I didn't read what he said, but it's nice to hear that he said something nice. I knew Anthoine very well and I am happy and proud that he inspires others. He was a good friend of mine and it is still very strange to talk about it like that. I'm still not used to the fact that he isn't here anymore," concludes the driver of AlphaTauri.
