Haas driver Romain Grosjean has expressed his support for a budget cap proposed by Liberty Media, saying that it could provide exciting results, as we see currently in Moto GP.
The budget is expected to be $150 million, which is expected to narrow the field between the top and bottom teams.
Formula One has been dominated by two teams this decade, by Red Bull between 2010 and 2013 and Mercedes between 2014 and 2017. Both have taken four Constructors’ Championships, although Ferrari are looking to end the current Mercedes supremacy.
In Moto GP this season, Cal Crutchlow leads the championship, on an independent LCR Honda bike, his win in the opening round an unexpected surprise.
Grosjean spoke about the Moto GP standings, saying: “I love the idea of a cost cap, I’m a fan of Moto GP and if you look at the standings, Cal Crutchlow is number one, Johan Zarco number three.
“It’s amazing because every race one can win and it’s mixing a lot.
“When you watch the race you get a surprise, I’d love to see that in Formula One. One race it’s Mercedes, the next one is Ferrari and then Red Bull and Force India and maybe Haas."
