Last year Mercedes had a supreme pace in Abu Dhabi, but
Lewis Hamilton does not expect that to be the case again this coming weekend. He thinks the
Yas Marina Circuit suits
Red Bull Racing and possibly
Ferrari better. He says he no longer thinks much about last year's defeat.
Hamilton hopes the
Abu Dhabi Grand Prix will be similar to the race in Brazil, but he is not convinced that Mercedes is the strongest team here either. "
I don't believe this track will be our strongest. We think it may suit the others a bit better," he told
GPblog and others during the press conference.
Hamilton dodges questions about Abu Dhabi 2021
Asked about the much-discussed final stage of last year's race in Abu Dhabi, Hamilton says he hardly thinks about it. "I don't think a lot about it, I don't have many thoughts on the last race here. I have had many great experiences here in the previous years," the Mercedes driver replied somewhat evasively.
He does say he has had "many ups and downs" at the
Yas Marina Circuit, but he says he does not want to dwell on the past anymore.
"I am not focused on things that are behind me anymore, I am trying to be the best I can moving forward. I don't look at the past and think what I could've done better," Hamilton said.
