Lewis Hamilton didn't have much to fear from his previous teammate at Mercedes in five years. In 2022, Mercedes says goodbye to Valtteri Bottas and welcomes George Russell as the teammate of the seven-time world champion. Will Hamilton find things more difficult with Russell in the coming years? An initial reaction from Hamilton to the news of Russell's major career move.

The Russell - Hamilton era begins

"I want to take a moment to welcome George Russell to the team," Hamilton wrote on his Instagram page. "I remember meeting him when he was young, dreaming of one day being a Formula 1 driver. I had only just realised my own dream, so I know what this day means and how it will feel for him."
The seven-time world champion made no secret of his preference for Bottas, but has nothing but praise for his new teammate. "He is a great example to all the kids out there that dreams do come true when you chase them wholeheartedly. Through hard work he has rightly earned his spot on our team. I look forward to seeing him grow as a driver with this great team and working with him to raise Mercedes higher," Hamilton finished in praise.

Now the tune has changed for LEWIS HAMILTON about GEORGE RUSSELL'S arrival AT MERCEDES. He was on a different tune before the confirmation. Atleast TOTO has shown LH whose balls are bigger. A man who wanted to stay at MERCEDES for a longer time says differently now. Hope he doesn't start shooting in his pants like in BELGIUM, MR CHEATMINTON.

Lewis said it loud that Valteri has been the best teamate he ever had, maybe he will like George even more, we'll see, at least unlike a loser like you, George said that Lewis has been his idol since he was a kid. Toto was always the one who decided, only some ignorant fools thought otherwise

Russell earned his spot by performing day in day out in the worst machinery on the grid much in the same way that Alonso did in the Minardi. They weren't gifted anything, they had to prove their worth in lesser machinery first. Others are given the best machinery in lesser categories and then promoted straight into a top team with privileges.

Having to fight a running DWC in his rookie year is not a privilege, it can destroy a career, but yes, Lewis was given an opportunity which he grabbed with both hands. Moving to an underperforming Merc was not a privilege neither when RBR was dominating F1, but he took the risk which paid off. He was neither a billionaire's son , nor the son of a former driver, he was from a poor background who fought his up, only a blind can't admire this, I can't understand

Great move for Merc GP and I am quite sure that if GR is consistent and limits errors he will definitely be a fresh motivation for Ham44.

2021 is still some way to go, RBR taking Merc GP by the tail.

Come on Lewis, you can do it.

Get in there Lewis.
