Lewis Hamilton reacted his anger during the
Abu Dhabi Grand Prix over the onboard radio when
Max Verstappen drove right behind him again on the final lap. Christian Danner finds his reaction more than understandable, he told
Sport 1.
For a long time, it looked as though Hamilton would clinch his eighth world title on Sunday afternoon, but nothing was further from the truth. The crash of
Nicholas Latifi gave Verstappen the chance to pass Hamilton on the last lap of the race, which he eventually did. The Brit then spoke of manipulation on the radio.
Danner understands the reaction, he said in the interview. Hamilton would have behaved exemplary at other moments. "It brings up incredible emotions, but after the race, Hamilton congratulated Verstappen honestly and in interviews, he congratulated Red Bull and Verstappen again. He also reacted well on the podium. That shows that the good people also have a certain style and are sporty."
Red Bull beaten in constructors' championship
Mercedes did manage to clinch the constructors' championship. With a 28-point lead, the German racing stable was convincingly the best as a team, giving it a financial windfall.
