So far, the battle for the Formula One championship is playing out in a much more amiable manner than last year. This is to the delight of Christian Horner, who stresses that there is 'less bull****' between Red Bull Racing and Ferrari than there was in the battle with Mercedes.
In 2021, a grim atmosphere quickly developed between title contenders Red Bull Racing and Mercedes, with the title fight partly taking place off-track and the tension mounting. This year, the picture is completely different, with the title rivals getting along just fine.
Speaking to Eurosport, Horner stressed that the teams are extremely competitive, but that there is a lot of mutual respect. "We’re going head-to-head at each race and there is a genuine respect between the drivers and teams which is good to see," says the Red Bull team boss.
He points out that at the moment it is mostly about what happens on the track. "There’s not been a lot of politics and bull***t with what’s going on off the track," Horner said. The Red Bull team boss expects Ferrari to come back strongly in the second half of the season despite the big lead.
