Josef Newgarden is the big winner of this weekend's Indycar race in Long Beach. The driver managed to keep his competitors behind him and drive to victory. Rinus van Kalmthout finished in thirteenth place.

Colton Herta seemed to be the tastemaker of the day. He dominated the race and seemed to have a good chance at the win. However, after 56 laps Herta braked, driving his car hard into the wall. It caused him to retire and other drivers to still have the opportunity to take the victory.

In the end, it was Newgarden who took the victory, keeping Romain Grosjean and Alex Palou behind him and taking his second win in two weeks. Team Penske, with whom Newgarden is under contract, took no less than three victories in three races.

Veekay is invisible in race

Van Kalmthout hoped beforehand to also stand out in the race, but that was not the case. Veekay failed to drive forward. Although he did himself a good service with his thirteenth place, he will want to forget the race quickly. He is seventh in the standings, while Newgarden can be found in the lead.
