Reports in Italy suggest that the Italian Grand Prix and Formula One have links to a money laundering scheme that is linked with the hosting of the event. La Repubblica has reported that a tax evasion scheme is in place and is linked with promoters and driver sponsorship deals.
82 people are reportedly under investigation and all could be set to be indicted. The publication also reported that
Bernie Ecclestone has been questioned about such a scheme as well as FIA president
Jean Todt's son Nicholas Todt.
Nicolas Todt is an active driver manager and is currently handling Charles Leclerc's interests, but he is suspected by Italian authorities of inflating a personal sponsorship deal that involved Jules Bianchi.
Italian prosecutors believe there is a shadow system in place that could be replicated and active at other European grand prix venues.
