Jordan: 'Both are unique, but I'm still going for Hamilton'

The discussion about the best F1 driver of all time will probably never end. For Eddie Jordan the choice is difficult, but ultimately clear: Lewis Hamilton.
When Michael Schumacher took his seventh Formula 1 title, it seemed that no one would ever beat that record or even come close. Only last season did we find out that it is possible, when Lewis Hamilton took his seventh world championship.
With that, the choice for the best driver of all time has only become more difficult for many. Because how do you choose between greats like Schumacher, Hamilton and Senna? For Eddie Jordan the choice is now clear. "Both are unique, so it makes me almost schizophrenic to have to choose a winner, but I'm going for Hamilton," the former team boss told ABMS.

Why Hamilton over Schumacher?

That choice is not easy for the Irishman, but one aspect about Hamilton is decisive. "Lewis never won his titles in a collision like Michael did in Adelaide in 1994. Lewis's time at Mercedes was also never marred by cheating rumours. I still remember how much Michael suffered when Benetton was accused of using a banned traction control system in 1994. And his time at Ferrari didn't go entirely without someone pointing the finger at the team either," Jordan states.
All those accusations, according to Eddie Jordan, don't diminish the achievements of the legendary driver. "Both are simply greats in their profession."
Besides the two seven times world champions the Irishman doesn't want to leave out another driver: "Ayrton Senna is out of my league. He was a magician in every sense of the word. He died far too young to judge him objectively. Had he not crashed at Imola, he would have won far more than three titles. I can't prove it, but I'm sure of that."

It’s funny, I’ve been posting these same assumptions about Schumachers career for ages now!
People only just wanna wake up to it al of a sudden!
Let’s not forget that Schumacher also cheated Mika Hakkinen out of a title too!
If I remember correctly!
Or was it that he tried that crashing into him in the last race tactic but it failed!
I can’t quite remember but he tried to cheat yet again there.
Hakkinen should have 3 titles

And if Senna hadn't died at Imola how many of Schumackers titles would he have won, thus reducing Schumackers Count.

Records are there to be broken

can't disagree with jordan on this assessment (whoa did i actually say that ?!). he's absolutely right about schumacher's record; there is a taint to it. the incident with hill, the launch cheating rumours, the incident with villeneuve, the drivers points lost, the bridgestone allegations, the monaco incident, the absolute ironclad driver contract obligations instituted by the schumacher camp - that is a lot. usually there are a few things surrounding the great drivers; senna had a few, piquet as well, prost certainly, lauda had one or two, alonso for sure, vettel and multi 21 but to my knowledge no other driver has even come close to being tainted by scandal in the way schumacher has. it feels a bit odd to be writing this given what michael has gone through with his ski accident and everything afterwards but it is what it is.

At last, an intelligent analysis and conclusion..

Adelaide in 1994? With Hill? Well, what about trying to do the SAME thing to Villeneuve the very next year I believe? Schumacher wanted to win at all costs. Morality was an unnecessary luxury to him. If cheating was necessary he never had a problem doing it. Never. And all of his fans know it very well but they don`t have a problem with it either.

Hamilton still had to fight despite team orders,Michael's team mate was told to let him pass ,when his team mate was on his way to certain Victory.

What a joke.

An apt analysis. Hamilton is the clear cut GOAT and will eclipse every Schumacher record without having to resort to cheating tactics.

I see Eddy is back on his meds. He actually sounds rational and coherent.
