Kelly Piquet has spoken out on Instagram about qualifying at the
Brazilian Grand Prix. The Brazilian cynically states that the
FIA did a good job of waiting 40 seconds for the red flag, preventing
Max Verstappen from completing a lap to get himself out of Q2.
In an Instagram story, it is clear how Piquet views the situation. Her post in her story features
Formula 1's message mentioning the elimination of Verstappen and
Sergio Perez in Q2. Below that post, Piquet cynically posts:
''Waiting 40 seconds before waving the red flag. Well done FIA.''Verstappen furious at race control
Verstappen himself was also furious after qualifying about the slow action of race control. ''A car hits the wall, then it should just be red immediately. I don't understand why it has to take 30, 40 seconds for a red flag. It's just b*******,'' a furious Verstappen while speaking to Sky Sports. When the interviewer explained that this still allowed some drivers to finish their lap, Max stated, "Honestly, I'll leave it. It's stupid to talk about this. It's ridiculous.''
Due to 12th place in qualifying and a five-spot grid penalty for changing the combustion engine, Verstappen now has to start the race from 17th place. However, Verstappen will be allowed to move up the grid towards the front as some drivers are starting from the pit lane due to crashes from
Carlos Sainz, along with both drivers at Aston Martin and
Williams. It still remains to be seen whether they will make the start of the Grand Prix at
Interlagos at all.
