On the last testing day before his debut in the Formule One, rookie Charles Leclerc spinned his Sauber off the track, which lost him five hours of time on the track. Leclerc has said that he's angry at himself for that 'stupid' mistake.
Leclerc was doing well on Friday, until he spun out in his C37 at turn 12 and hit the tyre wall after going through the gravel.
When asked about the incident, the rookie had the following to say:
"Of course I'm angry about it.
"I try to push the limit, which is normal in testing. I would be a lot more disappointed in myself if this happens in the race in Melbourne."
“I’ve learned a lot but still [have] a lot to learn. I’m just happy to have done it today [but] just feel a bit angry about myself,” added the current Formula 2 champion.
“I will learn from it, I think it’s a bit stupid from my side to do it so early in the day but I mean it happens, I was pushing.”
“I think the pace was very good on the lap I was doing. Obviously I didn’t finish it but it was completely my fault,” he admitted
In total, the Ferrari protégé managed to log 375 ahead of his debut in two weeks in Melbourne.
