Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna is one of many looking forward to Lewis Hamilton's much-anticipated Ferrari tenure. At the recent sponsorship press conference with new partner UniCredit, the Italian was full of praise for the seven-time Formula 1 world champion. Vigna specifically referred to a recent gesture by Hamilton, which he 'loved'.

Hamilton praised by Ferrari CEO

Lewis Hamilton is set for his first outing in a previous Ferrari F1 car later this week at Ferrari's Fiorano circuit. 'Lewis mania' has reached fever pitch, with many fans expected to line the streets to get a glimpse of the star in a Ferrari for the first time.

It's not just the fans who are excited for his arrival. Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna is ready to see Hamilton wear the famous red. "There is excitement, there is a great desire to start, to face the tests," Italian outlet Corriere Della Sera reports.

"Change is always important and Hamilton has put himself back into the game. I loved reading his post on LinkedIn at the start of the year, a powerful message not to give up hope in all areas."

Hamilton's LinkedIn post explains how change must be embraced. It was his first official message as a Ferrari driver from earlier in the year. According to Hamilton, 2025 will be a year of "Embracing new opportunities, staying hungry, and driving forward with purpose."

'Hamilton is not afraid'

According to Vigna, not being afraid of this change between his Mercedes comfort zone and his new team in Ferrari gives Hamilton an advantage. "With him and Charles we will have fun. Someone who has won seven titles can really pass on a lot. If I talk to Fred, he emphasises his ability to give technical advice, but not only that. He has a great desire for change, and he is not afraid. At forty, he has put himself back in the game, he has embraced a culture that is different from many points of view compared to the Anglo-Saxon one."

Ferrari making so many changes is not clever and should have stuck to an evolution of the car that almost (and should have) won the WCC in 2024.
