Last week prior to the
F1 75 Live event,
Max Verstappen was questioned regarding the rumours surrounding a possible deal with
Aston Martin. The Dutchman confirmed that there had been contact, but not with respects to a move to the British
F1 team.
Helmut Marko also addressed the rumours in conversation with
Motorsport-total.com.
Marko on rumours linking Verstappen to Aston Martin
The
Red Bull Racing adviser would not be surprised if
Aston Martin had actually made an offer to the four-time world champion. "
It is no secret that Newey is a big fan of Max. It is then only logical if they would make him an offer."
However, the Austrian advisor has his doubts on the supposed sum the Lawrence Stroll owned outift would have offered the Dutch champion. "I have my doubts about whether it is actually that high, especially with Aston Martin's current share price. People are saying it was a high bid. But we don't know if the bid really existed."
Verstappen himself disregarded the rumours: "The only contact I had with them was about GT3 for this year. That's it. There's not much to say really, because there isn't anything."
