Helmut Marko was positively surprised by
Red Bull Racing's result in Monaco. The Austrian racing team achieved first and third place with
Sergio Perez and
Max Verstappen respectively, increasing the gap to
Ferrari. According to Marko, his team showed more than he counted on beforehand.
Although the Austrians brought a positive feeling with them to Monaco from the race in Barcelona, during the free practice sessions it did not seem that the racing team would achieve a victory. Ferrari with
Charles Leclerc recorded excellent lap times, which Red Bull seemed unable to match.
Marko expresses enthusiasm over Red Bull's performance
Nothing was further from the truth, however, as the drivers suddenly had to deal with a wet track on Sunday afternoon. It made for an eventful race in which Red Bull managed to outperform the competition and drive to victory.
"We succeeded more than we expected and than we wanted to," Red Bull advisor Marko told ORF. In doing so, he said that he was very satisfied with what both drivers showed on the track and that he is therefore looking forward to the Azerbaijan GP with confidence.
