Red Bull Racing could be satisfied with the qualifying of the
Australian Grand Prix on Saturday morning. Although it did not manage to keep
Charles Leclerc off pole position,
Max Verstappen and
Sergio Perez are neatly in second and third position in the race. According to
Helmut Marko, Red Bull has an advantage over the competition.
Because of the new regulations, the
Formula 1 teams had to work hard behind the scenes on the new car at the beginning of the season. During the test days in Barcelona they immediately ran into a major problem. The drivers suffered from porpoising on the track, which caused the cars to bounce around.
The Austrian racing team soon managed to find a solution, while other teams continued to suffer more from this. For example, it still occurs regularly at
Ferrari and Mercedes, such as in the GP of Australia.
"We managed to get porpoising out completely on the last test day in Bahrain with updates," Marko proudly stated in conversation with
Auto, Motor und Sport.
Marko wants to bring peace to Verstappen
Marko was also critical of Verstappen. The Red Bull advisor believes that the reigning world champion sometimes asks too much of himself and the car, which prompted him to talk to the driver.
