Alonso has suffered more trouble in testing today causing the first red flag of the session after stopping on track.
The
McLaren stopped on track after 46 laps at around 11:03am local time.
Fernando parked the car on an escape road at turn 7 of the circuit de catalunya.
McLaren, were having a positive morning of testing but this has now been spun around and once again the team have work on their hands in an attempt to fix and improve the car ahead of the Australian Grand Prix.
It has been reported that fluids were spilt on track after a 2nd truck was sent to the scene of the accident. Presumingly, these fluids came from the McLaren car.
The car has returned back to the garage on the back of the recovery truck under the usual pre-season testing covers.
The red flag period lasted less than 15 minutes as the green light illuminated at 11:15am local time.
It is unclear how long the car will be out of action for but signs were looking good after Alonso set a time of 1:19.858, just under a second slower than the lead Mercedes car.
Alonso is currently placed 4th fastest.
