Lando Norris may be in his debut F1 season but the 19-year-old has impressed making a credible partner for
Carlos Sainz. The Brit impressed during some testing sessions during 2018 and he's revealed what these did for his confidence ahead of his permanent move.
Norris sits 14th in the Drivers' Championship with 25 points, a respectable return for the rookie. His previous experience in a
Formula 1 car came at the
Belgian Grand Prix during the 2018 season which included outperforming Stoffel Vandoorne who was one of
McLaren's full-time drivers at the time.
Later that summer Norris was confirmed as
McLaren's partner for Carlos Sainz in 2019 and the Bristolian admitted the tests helped him ahead of his debut season.
“Doing the [first practice] against Fernando [Alonso], doing pretty well in the intermediate conditions which was one of the first times I’ve driven in the wet, doing well then and being fast, that was quite a big confidence booster,” he explained to Racefans.
