Norris struggled to get his car into the top 10 during both sessions, finishing 12th during FP1 and 16th at the end of FP2.
One of the main issues Norris felt was trying to manage the car in the high temperatures, claiming that the
McLaren didn’t ‘suit’ it, but also said there were areas that had improved on Friday.
Norris said in
McLaren’s report:
“A tricky day. FP1 wasn’t too bad; we got to do everything we needed to. “We suffered a bit with the car, a couple of problems here and there but nothing major. “In FP2 we tended to struggle a bit more, probably because of the temperature. It didn’t seem to suit the car as much. “It felt like we improved in some areas but there were other areas where it was worse. We’ll go through everything overnight.” The Brit also went on to say how FP2 became ‘messy’ from the red flag coming out due to Pierre Gasly’s crash and when he had to turn his engine off when stuck in the pit-lane.
