Esteban Ocon is hard on his team Alpine. The Frenchman says that his team must believe that they can make the same step as Aston Martin did last winter, otherwise, 'there is no point in racing.'

Alpine often expresses big ambitions when it comes to where the team wants to be in Formula 1 in the future. The French team just never seems to be able to live up to its own expectations. This year, the aim was to get closer to the top three, but this gap only seems to have grown. Alpine seems to be fifth team at the moment, behind the three traditional top teams as well as Aston Martin.

Ocon tough on his team

Alpine is again not where it would like to be this season and has only scored eight points in the championship, placing sixth. That could have been a lot more points had Ocon and his teammate Pierre Gasly not crashed together in Australia. Ocon thinks his team should take an example from Aston Martin, which made huge progress last winter.

"We have to in our mind think it is possible, otherwise there's no point racing. I don't know if Aston would have been able to do so in-season but if you take three or four months, it's not the end of the season. Aston Martin has shown, and fair play to them, that it is possible to make a big step if you find the right things, so it is doable," said Ocon to Motorsport.com.
