Ten seasons have now passed and in that time Formula E has developed into one of the most appealing classes in motorsport. Prejudices about
Formula E abound, but the fact is that it is an incomparable class to, say,
Formula 1. Managing the battery makes racing extra difficult. Not every driver knows how to master that art. Oliver Rowland, one of the famous names in Formula E, thinks that
Max Verstappen could do it.
Take
Antonio Giovinazzi or Felipe Massa. Certainly not mediocre drivers, but they also failed to succeed in Formula E in the past. The way of racing is different from what they were used to; some manage to get used to it, others do not. Oliver Rowland was asked in Formula E's podcast,
The Added Lap, which current
Formula 1 driver would succeed in FE anyway?
"Max [Verstappen]," was the answer he didn't have to think about for a second.
"That guy can drive anything. He does simulator driving at night, Formula 1 during the day, GT3 testing in the holidays. Remember, what Max is capable of doing, his flexibility to race," said the Briton, who also rates
Charles Leclerc as someone who can lap an FE car quickly.
'Verstappen friends with almost all drivers in Formula E'
About Formula E, some people - drivers and non-drivers alike - are rather giggly. Rowland, too, has heard this from time to time. But with
Max Verstappen, he sees respect for the class.
"The competition is very strong. Some drivers don't even know what they're talking about, others say complete nonsense about Formula E. Max watches every race he can and is friends with most of the drivers in the category, so it's good to see this [positive] comment from Max."
