Sergio Perez has confirmed that talks have started between him and
Red Bull Racing about a possible contract extension. However, he stressed that he is in no hurry to sign the deal and that the same goes for his employer.
Perez seems well on his way to a third-year alongside
Max Verstappen at Red Bull, where he has certainly not disappointed in the current Formula One season. Earlier,
Christian Horner indicated that his sights are set on a contract extension with the Mexican.
Perez confirms talks with Red Bull have begun
The Mexican branch of
Motorsport.com reports that Perez confirmed after the
Miami Grand Prix that talks have begun, but he stresses that neither party is in a hurry to negotiate.
For
Red Bull Racing, it is customary to make the decision after the summer break, as was the case in 2021. However, given Perez's good performance in the RB18, it is quite possible that the parties will reach an agreement before then.
