Sergio Perez is still confident that his team Force India can win the midfield battle, even though the team are behind of Renault and McLaren in the standings.
According to the Mexican, the updates the team has for Canada will enable them to beat their competitors.
"I think that there's still a gap," he told Crash.net.
"In Barcelona, for example, we came up short.
"It's very close.
"Haas, Renault, McLaren and us are very close to each other."
Looking forward, Perez is confident that Force India will be at the top of the midfield again.
"I think we can close the gap and that we can overtake them in terms of development.
"It all depends on the that the right updates, not everything on the car, work.
"Every team has the same problem and working efficiently will be a big difference maker in the coming races."
Big words from the Mexican, but he's right to trust his team, as Force India has shown to be capable of very good things on their small budget, which famously is the smallest in the entire F1.
