The announcement from Audi and
Porsche is probably not long in coming. According to
Marc Surer, it is still only a matter of principle, but the proposals are already fully ready.
It is no longer a secret that the Volkswagen Group wants to enter
Formula 1 with Audi and
Porsche starting in 2026. The German brand was already present at the various consultations on the engines for 2026 and managed to make the engines cheaper by removing the MGU-H. An announcement can now not be long in coming.
Audi and Porsche
At
F1insider.com Surer explains that the proposal is already on the table of the two parties. The only thing waiting at the moment is the official approval of the Volkswagen Group, but that is only a matter of principle. Audi would then enter into a partnership with
McLaren from 2026, where Porsche wants to join
Red Bull Racing.
According to Surer, there is no problem with Volkswagen competing in the same class with two brands from the same dome. Both brands have a sporting image and there are fans of both brands. In this way they can compete and show themselves at the top of motor sports. They did this before in a similar way in Le Mans.
