It’s been a slow start to the first day of the second week of pre-season testing.
Mercedes have stepped up their game,
Pierre Gasly set the pace and
Lando Norris bringing out a red flag are the big stories from the morning session.
Lando Norris went off at turn three in his McLaren, running off the track into the gravel. There were no brake marks left from the incident and the car was quickly removed from the site and testing quickly restarted.
It’s been an odd start to the second week for
Ferrari as they only completed six laps in the first three hours with
Charles Leclerc behind the wheel. The Scuderia set the pace last week and looked very impressive but the team brought the car in after just six laps stating they needed to perform some checks. It’s been confirmed that the checks were on the car’s cooling system.
Pierre Gasly set the fastest time of the morning session with a 1m18.647s lap of the Circuit de Catalunya. It was
Red Bull’s fastest lap of testing so far.
Mercedes looked off the pace last week but showed signs of improvement with defending champion,
Lewis Hamilton completing over 50 laps in the morning session.
Renault were the only other team to complete more than 50 laps with
Nico Hulkenberg behind the wheel for them.
