Red Bull wants to extend Verstappen's contract soon

During all the euphoria after winning the world title, Max Verstappen said on the radio that he wanted to stay with Red Bull for a long time. At the press conference before the FIA gala the Dutchman repeated this wish.

Make it work

The words do not seem to fall on deaf ears. Red Bull is now assuming that the Verstappen camp will soon discuss the matter with the Austrian racing team, as reported by Motorsport-Total. According to Helmut Marko it would even be an option to finalise a contract extension quickly.

Red Bull makes no secret of its desire to continue with Verstappen, as Christian Horner previously announced during the FIA press conference. The team considers Verstappen to be the best and most consistent driver on the grid. There is even a comparison with Ayrton Senna.

Mercedes after all?

Verstappen's current contract expires in 2023. That's the same time Lewis Hamilton runs out of his contract at Mercedes. Red Bull is not afraid that Verstappen chooses to switch to Mercedes. According to Marko on the site, too much happened at Silverstone to make such a switch possible.

We will never forget Silverstone. Only retirement of WOL and his gang will change our attitude towards MER racing team.

And Masi and Masi has been offered a 5 year deal as well. Things are looking up for Redbull.

Naah, your making that up like a lot of other things.
Stop fibbing and have a nice Maxy Christmas.
You're sounding very drained.

Desperate to validate manufactured win.
M&M championship.

Masi is not WOL’s dog anymore. Hard to believe for the narcist. Now they are licking their wounds and play the victim. I can hardly believe what I am seeing. For once you have bad luck and you are gonna behave like a little child. A shame for such a brand and such beautiful high quality cars. Some people are hollow and don’t care. But I don’t like to be associated with this total lack of dignity.

M&M championship mate
Your definition of bad luck is Masi doing something never before done on F1.

Commentator 17 December 2021 at 07:22+ 8554

Are we really still talking about 6 cars which were not allowed to take over? MER predominantly focused on finishing under a SC. They missed that game, bad luck.
The whole season you can be lucky, but that doesn’t mean you have a privilege on that.
The framing propaganda machine WOL unleashed towards a 24-year old boy was also very new for F1. And shameful. It’s really time for a reset of MER’s culture, it’s a toxic atmosphere over there with the lawyer team stand by. Wake up.

Commentator 17 December 2021 at 08:43+ 8554

No, and HAM without 25 Silverstone points? I wish you good luck, obviously you can’t live without.

Would Max have won without Masi and his last lap fiasco?

Commentator 17 December 2021 at 08:16+ 8554

What we really know, is that MER’s dominance is being attacked after many years. That’s always difficult for those who are used to that. They are clutching every straw to undermine it. The masterclasses VER gave by real racing will be remembered by the pure ones, as the boring DRS championships of the past 8 years will be forgotten and only be recognized in the statistics.

Max will definitely extend with Red Bull . He will never go to Mercedes- maybe one day he will go to Ferrari before endint his career like Vettel

User Avatar
Stevesyd 17 December 2021 at 01:29+ 36119

I agree will never go to Mercedes whilst Toto is there.
Toto begged for his signature but to Max its not all about the money and paparazzi like hamilton.
The man has soul, honour and dignity and at the moment Mercedes is void of all that.
Explains the current exodus Mercedes are experiencing by highly qualified technical staff.

Will soon be the highest earning driver in F1 history as the GOAT.
Arise KING MAX.

I watched the interview with Max and Horner before the FIA gala and Horner said he already had a new contract for Max in his pocket at that moment. He also told about the journey and the hard work they did all together over the years to get where they are now and about the good relationship with Max and the whole team that is build on trust, respect and reliability. He said that these things are just as important than just a piece of paper as a contract and I think he is right about that. It was beautiful to see the interaction between the two during the interview and you could feel the good vibes. So Max and RB will stick together for many more years and I like that ??

Harvey 17 December 2021 at 01:30+ 1649

Horner comes across as a more trustworthy and dependable man. I can't believe all the bull the Hamilton fans have said bout him. Especially when you compare him o Toto.

AJ71 17 December 2021 at 01:49+ 928

True Harvey! Horner is a good man I believe. And those Hamilton fanboys can not to be taken seriously with all the crap they talk and their poor language saying the same lines over and over again! They will never say something good about RB and everyone who works there. And Toto is a really horrible person who can’t even stand in the shadow of Horner ??

Exactly. Just listen to his podcast on official F1 YouTube channel. It's brilliant ?

Harvey 16 December 2021 at 23:37+ 1649

Sign him up! Max along with a slew of fast, aggressive and hungry race drivers like: Russell, LeClerc, Sainz, Gasly and Tsunoda, and the vet Alonso will make the next few years of F1 great. It will finally be watchable again. People want to see racing, not just passes made on straights with DRS. They don't want to see a team with a curiously dominant car that any average driver could win in.

A lot of people are tired of Hamilton, it has nothing to do with racism. It has much to do with the dominance of Merc since 2014. Reasonable people feel that they have manipulated specifications (some how). Despite the outcry this week, most people feel that the FIA has been in the bag for Lewis all these years. Toto is arrogant and a bad sport. Also, Lewis has changed since his first title. He has used his celebrity status to inject race and politics into F1. Not everyone believes they belong in sports.

Nsxer 17 December 2021 at 07:17+ 56

That'sums it up perfectly.

Markh1881 16 December 2021 at 22:54+ 358

He'll stay at Redbull while he's winning but give him a bad car he'll be off to one of the top runners, just like every other champion !!!!!

User Avatar
kingpeppermint 17 December 2021 at 24:27+ 4485

That's why he was winning races when they where still stuck with an moderate at best and unreliable as hell Renault/Tsg heuer engine.. All because he jumped ship right?

Head Steward 17 December 2021 at 01:08+ 1156

What options did he have for a better car at the time? None really.. Red Bull have been in the top three for a long time. I know he’s loyal. But say they botch the engine somehow, hypothetically. You really think he’ll stick around till the next PU?

User Avatar
kingpeppermint 17 December 2021 at 03:15+ 4485

@Head Steward +62717-12-2021 00:08
Mercedes tried to get him to race for them a few times, but it never materialised.
But yes i agree i think he would move if Red Bull fails and falls back. I think Ferrari would be the only option now as Mercedes is as good as ruled out.

Cristi 16 December 2021 at 22:02+ 9975

If i were Mateschitz, i'd make him a 10 year contract with a blank cheque. Also, Red Bull ambassador for life. Max has earned it, and this is just the beginning.

JapieKrekel 16 December 2021 at 22:15+ 8495

I think Max is indeed responsible for a couple of billion additional revenue in Mateschitz pocket ;-)

Try buying his merchandise online.
Everything sold out in 1 day and on backorder.
He is a phenomenon like never seen before in F1.

King 16 December 2021 at 22:20+ 2209

Let’s be honest who’s hell wants him Netflix champion

JapieKrekel 16 December 2021 at 22:30+ 8495

Apart from a couple of sour trolls here, I guess the rest of the grid (except Merc, too much has happened).

Btw, did you mom and dad order your Netflix subscription yet?

Commentator 16 December 2021 at 23:55+ 8554

Who still wants MER? Maybe RUS ? maybe….

Head Steward 17 December 2021 at 01:04+ 1156

Drivers want a competitive car, period. They don’t care about the team. If Red Bull had a midfield car, you bet Max would be looking elsewhere after a few seasons.

Anyone who thinks there’s that much loyalty in sport is naive.

Commentator 17 December 2021 at 06:45+ 8554

Unbelievable though that a 24- year old boy doesn’t want to go to MER. The big big brand of Daimler. Where did they lose their dignity?

Charles345th 17 December 2021 at 11:23+ 4784

... not if Toto is still there...

AJ71 17 December 2021 at 24:54+ 928

Well Mercedes would love ❤️ to have Max but Max don’t want Mercedes’ Netflix King. ???
