The coronavirus crisis is causing a lot of uncertainty in the
Formula 1 calendar for the time being. While the Australian GP will only take place in November, several other circuits are doubtful. The mayor of Scarperia and San Piero Federico Ignesti keeps the GP of Tuscany among the possibilities.
The racetrack in Tuscany is regularly used by
Ferrari as a test location. Last year the Mugello Circuit was used for the first time because of the many cancellations due to the corona crisis. The mayor of the area where the circuit is located is willing to talk when
Formula 1 is in trouble again and is looking for a replacement GP-weekend.
He believes the Mugello Circuit could serve as an excellent alternative to another race.
"We are ready. If Liberty Media is willing to cooperate. We're not saying no to anyone, we'll see what happens," he told
Corriere dello Sport.
GP of Italy
Last year's race took place in September and had few big surprises. Seven-time world champion
Lewis Hamilton captured the first finishing position, while
Valtteri Bottas crossed the finish line shortly after.
Alexander Albon finished third, while
Max Verstappen crashed out during the race.
