Max Verstappen also finished the second session for the
British Grand Prix in first place. The Dutchman was slightly faster than
Carlos Sainz in his Red Bull. The difference was 0.022 seconds. Once again, Alex Albon finished a free practice session third. The surprisingly strong performing
Williams driver did the same in FP1.
Max Verstappen was fastest on mediums, and the Dutchman was also the best on softs. Mercedes had hoped to fire up the Dutchman this race, but nothing came of that. It is undoubtedly not a good look for the Germans that customer teams Williams,
McLaren and Aston Martin were faster. A loss for
Lewis Hamilton and
George Russell, driving in front of their home crowd, but their race pace showed improvement.
Logan Sargeant was also a surprise customer at the head of the field. With his Williams, he too was much faster than both men from AlphaTauri. Once again,
Yuki Tsunoda and
Nyck de Vries proved to have the slowest car, only finishing ahead of Leclerc, who did not complete a single lap.
