Daniel Ricciardo claims a two-year deal would be the perfect option for the 28-year old, as he continues his 2019 contract hunt.
The Australian also hints at holding his long-term plans back before he commits himself past the 2021 season.
“I don’t want to sign anything too long because I don’t know where the sports going,” said the Chinese Grand Prix race winner.
“I think two years I can definitely be comfortable with and then see it from there.
“That third year will be the rule change, so I will probably wait and see what happens then.”
Ricciardo effectively bumped up his price and rank after an astonishing drive through to the field to win in China.
You’d expect his current team, Red Bull to be giving him a pen every day in the rush to sign him. But according to Daniel, this is yet to happen.
“If they (Red Bull) want me to race for them they should contact me, but they haven’t.
“If we win this year then I’m staying with Red Bull.”
