Daniel Ricciardo has admitted that he is lacking speed in the 2019 Renault after a disappointing start to the season has left him pointless with two DNF's out of two.
The Australian moved from Red Bull to the French outfit in the hopes of vast improvements compared to the power unit Red Bull used last year however Renault has endured a difficult start to the new campaign.
“The car is showing signs of speed, but personally I am still trying to find all of it,” Ricciardo told Italy’s Autosprint.
“I need to find more confidence in the car. I’m still not where I want to be with the braking. Let’s say I’m trying to find some more speed in some areas."
Ricciardo was left floundering on a one-stop strategy after most of the field had converted to a two-stop in Bahrain. It meant Renault teammate Nico Hulkenberg was once again the star performer at the team.
Although he has been on record as saying this season is one of learning for both he and the team, there is no doubt that he will be disappointed with how his new venture has turned out thus far.
