Can you believe Daniel Ricciardo hasn’t scored a podium finish for Red Bull since his victory in Monaco? The future Renault driver has been out of from for a while, but he has a good opportunity to put that horrendous stat right as he starts P4 for today’s Grand Prix of the United States.
The Aussie originally qualified in fifth, but Sebastian Vettel’s penalty for failing to slow sufficiently for red flags has boosted him onto the second row of the grid.
Ricciardo is getting desperate for a podium during his final few races for Red Bull before he leaves the team and you can bet that if he is in touching distance of it then he will go for it.
He said: “I can promise you now that if I’ve got an opportunity to get a podium tomorrow I’m not going to let it slip. So I’ll do what I can.
“We look pretty racy in the third sector but first and second sector we are going to bleed a little bit. I’ll try to make something happen.
“We’ll try to send some missiles tomorrow and we’ll see how we go.”
