Daniel Ricciardo is on top at the end of FP1 of this
Hungarian Grand Prix.
Red Bull’s Daniel Ricciardo set the fastest lap in FP1 of the 2018 Hungarian Grand Prix with a 1:17.613.
Red Bull really impressed in sunny Hungary, with Ricciardo and his team-mate Max Verstappen driving excellently.
It looks like their sacrifice to penalise Ricciardo last weekend to save him for this weekend could pay off, but it’s early days still.
Mercedes didn't have the best of sessions at all, with both of their cars suffering problems.
Lewis Hamilton reported on the team radio his unhappiness with his car's tyres and then went back into the pits.
Hamilton and his team-mate Valtteri Bottas locked up multiple times, quite a few of them coming in Turn 1.
They finished fifth and sixth respectively in the first practice session of the weekend.
Sebastian Vettel had the best lap through quite a lot of FP1 and finished second but only nine miliseconds in front of Red Bull's Verstappen.
Kimi Raikkonen was fourth quickest on a session that was dominated by Ferrari and Red Bull.
Raikkonen, at the end of the session, though, did alert Ferrari about his brakes overheating in the soaring heat in Budapest.
Renault's Nico Hulkenberg's electronics failed, forcing the German to leave his car and the Renault was eventually pushed back to the pits, with the help of the Hulk - living up to his name!
The Renault team were doing everything they could to try and sort the German's car out, even barricading the paddock because it was unsafe for anyone else!
Marcus Ericsson span out twice in his Sauber and after the second spin, the Swede was forced out for the rest of the session.
Red Bull dominates as it stands and there were strong signs that Red Bull fans would have wanted to see, that they could indeed win the Hungarian Grand Prix!
