The former world champion will not only be investing in the series but will get to drive one of the cars in Berlin.
Nico Rosberg has become a shareholder in Formula E. Rosberg will also get to drive the new Gen2 car in Berlin next month.
The German has been around the Formula One paddock since his retirement after his championship-winning season in 2016 but will now get the opportunity to drive the electric cars on the streets of the German capital
“I’ve become very interested in the e-mobility movement and its potential to positively impact our society and our planet,” he said.
“I’ve therefore also long believed in the potential of Formula E and came on board as an investor some time ago.”
Formula E CEO Alejandro Agag said in a statement it was great for the series to have the former F1 champion driving the car.
“It’s a very special moment to see a new car running for the first time in public and it requires an equally special name to have that honour.
“To see a name like Rosberg taking the wheel of the Gen2 car in front of the German fans in Berlin is a great moment for the series.”
