The
Mercedes already seems to be improving step by step. In qualifying in Canada,
Lewis Hamilton and
George Russell finished in fourth and fifth place, but may move up another place towards
Max Verstappen thanks to
Nico Hulkenberg's grid penalty.
George Russell is happy with his qualifying, he reports to
Viaplay."We did a great job to get into Q3 today. I think it was clear that we were performing better as the track was drying. And then when the rain came in Q3, we struggled again," said the Englishman.
Russell: 'Double podium'
"P5 is a really great place to be. There's no reason why we can't fight for a double podium with Lewis tomorrow," the Mercedes driver told reporters before knowing he gets to start from P4 in the upcoming race.
The 25-year-old driver is fifth in the world championship, 22 points behind teammate and colleague Hamilton. The Mercedes is slowly catching up with Red Bull driver
Sergio Perez, who is not performing quite as he should.
