Sainz honest: 'No idea who we will race against this weekend'

Carlos Sainz is happy with the way he is able to drive this season's Ferrari. Speaking ahead of the Singapore Grand Prix, the Spaniard reveals that the SF-23 suits him better than last season's Ferrari and says he feels "at one with the car". The Ferrari driver also looks ahead to the race at the Marina Bay circuit.

Sainz feels at one with his Ferrari

Carlos Sainz took a handsome pole position and third place in Monza in Ferrari's home race. The Italian team only had to beat both Red Bulls, nevertheless the podium was a nice boost for Sainz. He says he is happy with the way he can drive the Ferrari SF-23 and he expresses that he feels "at one with the car".

Asked how Sainz has developed that feeling, he states: "I feel more at one with the car since the beginning of the season. It's not like something's changed recently. It's maybe just putting the weekend together." The Spaniard also makes a comparison to last season in this regard: "But I feel at one with the car from the beginning of the season while last year that wasn't the case. And I had to change quite a bit of things with my driving and adapting and changing the car to my liking."

Whether Ferrari will again be the second team in Singapore remains to be seen, according to Sainz. "I think it could well be Aston Martin, could well be Mercedes, could well be McLaren or even Alpine if they are as competitive as in Zandvoort." What the Ferrari driver does assume is another strong Red Bull:"I think Red Bull will be one step ahead. But if we nail everything, then anything can happen."
