Sauber are eagerly waiting on Ferrari's 2019 line-up decision, with the Italians heavily interested in their driver Charles Leclerc.
Sauber are prepared to wait for Ferrari to make their decision before they go making plans of their own for the next season.
Kimi Raikkonen is the driver under pressure at Scuderia, with his partner Sebastian Vettel involved in an intense title battle with Mercedes' Lewis Hamilton, so Ferrari have to make the choice of sticking with the experience or twisting with the youth.
Frederic Vasseur, Sauber's team boss states that the team will wait for the Italian giants to make their decisions before making any rash decisions of their own.
"We could choose them first, but the complete line-up is important to us," Vasseur said in an interview with Motorsport.com.
"The combination of both drivers play a big role and therefore it is better to know both names."
Vasseur insists that his statements are in no way intended for Ferrari to speed up with their decision process.
"I do not put Ferrari under any pressure at all, I think you do that much more than I do," Vasseur explained. "I do not know when they confirmed Kimi last year, but I think that was much later in the season.
"It is not that everyone has to decide within a week, now what there is clarity around Daniel Ricciardo. If you look at the past, we are now much earlier than normal. So we have to remain calm."
