Guenther Steiner insists that F1 stewards change their judging ideologies when assessing a big name. Steiner links the issue in qualifying last week when Verstappen seemingly blocked Romain Grosjean's hot lap.
Verstappen was called to the stewards in Hungary, but nothing came from the discussion. The Austrian went on to confirm his team deserved the penalties they've had other the season, but insists the stewards give extra breathing room for the big names.
Speaking in an interview on F1i, he claims that the stewards should make the penalty without the name involved.
"Sometimes we don’t help ourselves to put ourselves in this position -- if you didn’t need to go there you wouldn’t get the penalty," Steiner said.
"But if there is a decision to be taken, I still think that who you are counts for what the outcome is. It should all be without a name."
What do you think? Do stewards change their penalties based on the names? And is there a better system they could use? Let us know in the comments below!
