Steiner: Standard car will "ruin F1"

Haas F1 team principal Guenther Steiner thinks that standardizing the cars in F1 would be a very bad thing, as it would make it more spectacular, but it would also "ruin" the essence of the sport.
The IndyCar introduced the idea this season. Every team has the same base car, where it's only allowed to develop certain parts of the car. It sounds tempting in the sense that every team has more of a chance, but Steiner thinks that the moment the F1 does that, it dies.
"It would be bad if the Formula One would pursue what they're doing in the IndyCar," Steiner said.
"It might be fun for the spectacle of it, but the F1 has to be the most cutting-edge in terms of technology in motorsport and we need to keep it like that.
"We shouldn't make it simpler, we might as well close down if we do that."
Message received, Guenther. He's clearly not a fan of the idea of simplifying the F1, even if it would open more doors in terms of new investors and teams. He does, however, think that it's good to talk to the other racing categories, as it can lead to new ideas.
"We all know that overtaking is difficult with the current F1-cars.
"That has to improve and therefore it's good to talk to other people from other racing categories.
"The ideas that come out of that have to be translated to the F1 though, not copied."
