Harsh words from former
Formula 1 driver Hans-Joachim Stuck. The German would like to see his compatriot Mick Schumacher get another chance in
Formula 1, but this time with a team with a "better car and a decent team boss". Stuck gives his opinion on the young Schumacher and on Haas team boss
Guenther Steiner opposite
Eurosport.
Mick Schumacher was sacked from the Haas team at the end of 2022 due to disappointing performance. Team boss Guenther Steiner seemed to be done with the young German after several solid crashes. Currently, the son of seven-time world champion
Michael Schumacher is a reserve driver at the Mercedes team, where he does a lot of simulator work. However, former
F1 driver Hans-Joachim Stuck believes Schumacher deserves more than a place on the reserve bench, taking a hard line at Guenther Steiner.
'Schumacher deserves chance under decent team boss'
"He [Mick Schumacher] should be given another chance to prove himself, in a better car ánd with a decent team boss," Stuck begins. "Not under someone like Steiner, who has no idea how to run a team and move people forward. Under different circumstances [than at Haas] I give Mick a good chance".
Opinions on Mick Schumacher's Formula 1 performance are divided. Several team bosses and other prominent figures have spoken up for Schumacher before, but for now it does not look like the young German will be able to secure a racing seat for 2024.
