The 2023
Formula 1 season has only just begun and things are already rumbling behind the scenes at
Ferrari. After the disappointing performance at the
Bahrain Grand Prix, there is said to be discontent within the Italian racing stable. Moreover, it would not be brand-new team boss Fred Vasseur who is pulling the strings, but CEO Benedetto Vigna.
'Vasseur is already fed up at Ferrari'
Italian media are reporting nothing but turmoil since the opening race at the
Bahrain International Circuit. For instance,
Charles Leclerc is said to have requested a meeting with president John Elkann to discuss the current situation and the head of the aerodynamics department is said to be about to leave.
However, it does not end there: according to
Corriere dello Sport Vasseur would already be completely fed up in his new role. The brand-new team boss would have little freedom in his managerial role and would have to submit to CEO Benedetto Vigna. Compared to the other nine team bosses, Vasseur would have significantly less powers.
According to the Italian newspaper, there could already be talk of a rift between Vasseur and Vigna. Moreover,
Ferrari would run the risk that other leaders will follow David Sanchez's example and turn their backs on the team. It has been quiet around
Laurent Mekies for a while now: reason enough for the medium to suggest that the race director's departure may be just around the corner.
