Stoffel Vandoorne's season hasn't gone to plan so far and there is some pressure on the Belgian, but he insists he is not feeling the pressure.
Vandoorne only has eight points so far this season and sits uncomfortably in 15th in the drivers' standings.
Despite this, Vandoorne says that the results have been positive this year.
"I do not feel any pressure, the results have been positive this year," Vandoorne told Crash.net.
"Right now, I can not do much except drive at full capacity and try to extract the maximum of what we have.
"I think that coping with some of the problems finally made me stronger.
"I face weekends differently and try to maximise everything I have, even knowing that the car will not be able to score points."
With team mate
Fernando Alonso potentially facing his last season as an F1 driver, Vandoorne is confident he can be
McLaren's number 1 driver.
"It's up to Fernando to decide what he's going to do with his future, it's not something I can control.
"The only thing that depends on me is my own performance and my results.
"I think that given our proximity and the direction we look in the team, I'm 100% ready, I have no doubt."
Vandoorne finished 16th last weekend in Montreal, two places above his team mate, Alonso.
