Frederic Vasseur has been around for many years in
Formula 1 and therefore knows better than anyone what it takes to achieve top performance. In an extensive interview with
Racecar Engineering he discusses the crucial factors during the preparation of a
Formula 1 season.
"The four pillars of performance are the wind tunnel, CFD, simulator and the actual car," the Frenchman explained. "Each needs to be working effectively to be performant. No one of those operations is considered less vital than the others; they are all critical."
Ferrari is betting on the longer term
Vasseur has to ensure that
Ferrari manages to take the world title once again in the coming years. Last season, the Italian racing stable led by
Mattia Binotto was fast, but allowed
Max Verstappen to grab a lead early in the race year.
Meanwhile, the team is reportedly working hard behind the scenes to extend
Charles Leclerc's contract, which runs until the end of 2024. The team reportedly fears that Mercedes wants to snare the Monegasque, which is why it is now in talks with the driver.
