Next season the third member of the Schumacher family will make his debut in
Formula 1. As a good friend of
Mick Schumacher,
Sebastian Vettel is open to give advice where needed.
Before the terrible skiing accident,
Sebastian Vettel and
Michael Schumacher built a special bond, as two German
Formula 1 world champions. Since then, the former
Ferrari driver has built a similar relationship with his son
Mick Schumacher.
Vettel is open to helping the rookie with his first season in the top class of motorsport.
"I'm happy to help where I can, because he's a great guy and of course I have a special relationship with his father. It's such a shame that Michael can't witness the steps Mick has taken in recent years and now his transition to Formula 1," said Vettel talking to
Autosport.com.
An idol and mentor
The young Schumacher will probably gladly accept the advice. The rookie used to call Vettel his idol and a mentor for him, the same way Vettel looked up to Michael. "Of course, I am flattered by those statements. I have seen his father win a lot more races than he has seen me win. I will be happy to help him. Just as I took advice from his father, I will try to do the same for him".
However, Sebastian Vettel insists that Mick Schumacher shouldn't rely completely on his tips and advice. "I think it is very important for him to find his own path and follow it in his own way", concludes the German.
