Mike Krack is starting his first season as team boss of Aston Martin. The Luxembourger realises better than anyone that he can clasp his hands with the qualities of Sebastian Vettel in the team. He emphasised this in conversation with Auto, Motor und Sport.
The 34-year-old German has been running in Formula 1 since 2007. Vettel went on to work successively for Sauber, Toro Rosso, Red Bull Racing and Ferrari, before deciding to make the switch to Aston Martin at the end of 2020. At the British racing stable, he finished 12th in the World Championship last season.
Vettel not only shows how good he is on the track, also off the track Krack noticed that he is dealing with a driver of a high level. For example, he frequently helps the formation behind the scenes to improve the car and thus bring it closer to its goals.
"He's smart and knows how to use that experience in the right way," Krack said.
"He doesn't just say something was done differently in the past. He knows what it takes to go faster. He can also use that to help us as a team manage that development."
