At the end of his solidly chilled love affair with
Ferrari and on the eve of his new adventure with
Aston Martin, the much experienced German driver
Sebastian Vettel gives a glimpse into the internal logic behind his team change.
Asked by Frankfurter Rundschau as to why he thinks a partnership with
Aston Martin will be a success story, Vettel admits that a guarantee of success was not part of his consideration.
"It is more a matter of curiosity," he explains.“I am extremely excited about the project and am looking forward to it. Nobody can give you guarantees, but the term curiosity already contains a lot of positive energy. And you can trust them.”
The euphoria disappears
It is not illogical that after five years of collaboration with
Ferrari, a new team is needed, especially in light of the Scuderia's underperformance last year. Vettel also explains that the emotional connection with the team came to exist on shaky ground:
“It ended up not working for a variety of reasons. And then of course the euphoria also decreases.”
