The intermediate and wet tyres haven’t had much use in 2018, but that could all change in Germany this weekend. Rain is expected to fall during both qualifying and the race on Sunday.
2018 has been very dry for F1, even Silverstone didn’t see a spot of rain. But finally, the wets are likely to come out. Friday is expected to be dry with sunshine, but all the rubber will be washed away come Saturday afternoon.
Showers are then expected during the second half of the race which could give teams and drivers challenging conditions and tricky decisions to make. As well as the rain, the drivers are going to have to manage the temperatures.
A change of 5c from Friday to Saturday will cause different conditions on Saturday that teams may not be used to.
It sounds like the makings of a very exciting Grand Prix!
