Williams has secured Victor Martins for the Williams Racing Driver Academy. The Frenchman has been under contract with Alpine in recent years.

Following the arrival of Franco Colapinto from Williams to Alpine, there was no longer a place for Martins, who has been competing in Formula 2 for several seasons. At the beginning of the year, the French team decided to part ways with the junior talent. At Williams, he will meet Luke Browning, who also competes in F2.

Martins to be in action for Williams this weekend

Martins is back with an F1 team. "I’m super happy to be joining the Williams Racing Driver Academy!" Victor share on his first day at Grove. "This is a new chapter for me, but my goal remains the same – to push myself to the limit, both as a person and as a racing driver, and to make it to Formula 1," Martins says in a Williams' press release.

"Williams is an iconic team with an incredible history, and I’m confident this is the best place to be to help me achieve my goals. This year, I’ll put all my focus into winning the Formula 2 Drivers’ Championship with ART Grand Prix and maximising this opportunity with the Driver Academy both on and off the track. I look forward to working with everyone at Williams as we embark on this new journey together."

Martins and Browning will represent Williams this coming weekend. They will test an older F1 car at the Monza circuit.
