This site is originally a Dutch blog that became big(ger) with the rise of Max Verstappen. The English version has been populated from a certain point with a contingent of Mercedes/Lewis Hamilton 'fans' to which a group of Red Bull/Max Verstappen 'fans' joined (I think that is/was the order). It's a chicken and egg story of who was here first. No longer relevant. The Red Bull/Max Verstappen 'fans' have committed the stupidity of allowing Max's rise (culminating in 2021) to go hand in hand with the cutting down of Lewis Hamilton. This has caused a counter-movement of Lewis Hamilton 'fans'. Since 2020/2021 there has been a battle going on this blog between the different camps. Part of that (only 1 of the many parts) is that glorifying Max Verstappen is prohibited. You might now ask yourself a few questions: why are those - Dutch - Max Verstappen 'fans' on an English-language site instead of on 'their' Dutch one (and don’t bother with the site here?) Why are the Lewis Hamilton 'fans' not on a Lewis Hamilton site (and don’t bother with the site here?) I don't have the answers. Part of it is bullying, stupidity, playground rules, narcissism, lack of communication and so on. Most here just like to be antagonistic. Oh, and please don’t glorify Max. Stone-table-sin no. 131-03-2025 08:43

There are those who claim Red Bull created their car around Max. That is described here time and time again. Either directly in the article, between the lines or veiled (usually as an insult) in the comments.30-03-2025 21:46

The description, “built around”, is subject to interpretation. All cars are literally tailored to the drivers in terms of their fit and steering wheel layout, but also the cars’ handling characteristics are adjusted to the preferences of the drivers. There is also a prioritization of team strategy that places more emphasis on the driver who is ahead on the track and ultimately, the one who is ahead in points or the one whose season total may need some help. For RedBull, Max Verstappen is so much faster than his teammates ever since he joined the team, it behooves RB to maximize Verstappen’s advantages at virtually all times in all decisions. And more, it has been discussed and assumed that there are car characteristics that favor Max’s driving style and actually slow his teammates. This is where the words, “built around”, really mean something and the dislikers enter the debate. The general characteristic that favors a few very fast drivers is less understeer or even a touch of oversteer. It has been described as a rear that is less well planted, or is more lively, etc. It’s also the fastest way to round a circuit. Notable drivers that have been said to do well with this kind of car are Hamilton, Verstappen Leclerc, Schumacher. Other drivers don’t like the unpredictability that undermines confidence. Max Verstappen is a generational talent with only Lewis Hamilton as a more or less equal on the current grid. It's okay that people don't agree, it will rub them the wrong way, the truth usually does.30-03-2025 17:02

I hope Yuki will do fantastic with his own settings. Proves the car isn't build around Max, just build like it is . . . which Max can drive well. Has been said/explained before by those 'in the know'. Would put the blah-blah-ers back in their place.30-03-2025 15:35

How long will we keep harping on about this topic? How many professional drivers does New Zealand have besides Scott McLaughlin? Could be a good indicator of the number of unnecessary articles. The Red Bull cars are designed in a specific way. Max happens to be good at driving those specifications. Many others are not. Yuki should have been in the Red Bull from the start of the season and not Liam with only 12 GPs to his name. F1 is a billion-dollar game. There is no room for sentiment. Liam can't drive the RB21 well enough. Maybe Yuki can. If Yuki also fails, Red Bull should continue doing 'some' work on the RB21 - without expectations for this season - but focus the vast majority of their time and money on the 2026-car. Make sure that car can be driven well by two drivers and that it can be turned-up / set-up in a very pointy manner. Best of both worlds. The rest of the current situation is for the whiners to complain about and/or amuse themselves with.28-03-2025 15:23

"Why use the word chaos" . . . cause it is grist to the mill for all those people who thoroughly dislike Red Bull. Unless teams talk (and are honest) we as audience will never know the ins and outs of any decision. Won't stop us speculating. For me, Yuki should have been in the car as of this season. He has done the legwork and matured a lot. Looking at the driver-pairings of McL/Fer and Merc, Red Bull must intervene (and get a point scoring teammate in the car) will Max have a change to a title. Alone against 6 good drivers - and I don't think Lando will crack like he did last season - Max will not succeed in his current car. Yes it is hard on Liam, yes they should have put Yuki in the car immediately, yes it is a billion-dollar business so of course you don't have time with drivers who don't perform, yes all teams lose and gain personal . . . but losing Wheatley and Newey is quit a lot and yes Red Bull management must find some easier waters. The rest is just gloating of those who want and pray for as much unrest within Red Bull as possible.26-03-2025 11:27
