I honestly don’t see why there is a RB “controversy”. He wasn’t hacking it and this season is going to be too close to not give Yuki a chance to see if he adapts to the car better. Yuki changed for the better since they first chose Liam and isn’t the same reckless spaz he once was and is doing well, so it’d be asinine NOT to give him a go. Besides, Doohan is actually a much worse position than Liam right now as a driver, with a boss who publicly (and god knows privately) acted like a toxic POS towards him even before the season started, has made it clear he is unlikely to keep him more than one more race, and Doohan has no second team to switch out with to reset, regain his form again, and either jump back into an RB if Yuki can’t hack it, or switch to another team. He’s done. Dream over.28-03-2025 20:07

I love it! For the first time in ages F1 is delivering things I have rarely felt; tension and surprise! I don’t have strong feelings for any particular driver or team. But I do have strong feelings about being put to sleep and having highlights being one or two mediocre passes in a race, or drivers being whiny on the radio. But so far this season has been fun! ?22-03-2025 19:36

As with so many athletes it’s a problem of confidence more than talent in this case, and everyone who’s been an athlete has been there at some point. It’s a hateful spiral. You screw up badly, then it happens again, and your confidence switch gets turned off. With the tentative way he is driving you can almost hear the mantra running through your head of “oh, please God, just let me finish the lap without putting it into the wall or damaging the car”. He needs a good loud boxing cornerman to snap him out of it to get him angry, hungry, fired-up, and back to his usual aggressive “kiss my ass” self. But if he can’t and needs more time to collect himself… …Yuki has certainly found his maturity over the break. He is driving better than ever, isn’t acting like a total spaz when something isn’t right, and has seemingly dropped his reckless impulsiveness. All things being equal, Yuki may not be as talented as Lawson, but that doesn’t matter if Lawson can’t shake it off and clear Q1 and especially if he can’t push up into the points.22-03-2025 19:26

May have also come down to salary demands at a time when money is pretty damn tight for RB, as well as a a demand for a multi-year contract that RB were unwilling to give. Rookies don’t demand much, but the development of the 2026 car does.22-03-2025 19:48

He’s cold hearted, but no different than managers in other sports that bring rookies up from the minors. Rookies who each have a just narrow window in which to impress before they are either tentatively retained or shown the door. But unlike other sports, F1 is so much smaller, expensive, and depends so much on the results of two players across only 20+ games per year. It’s like having an astronaut that keeps getting sick in space and making mistakes. They might have spent a lifetime to get that opportunity, but NASA can’t afford to HOPE they’ll improve before the next mission. Especially when that mission is only a week or two away.21-03-2025 13:01

I didn’t pick a side. But here and now we just happen to be discussing you. That’s all. But when you try to justify your own problematic behavior, or at least deflect attention from it, by pointing towards others who are engaging in similar way, you aren’t exactly owning it; either to say “yeah, I’ve got to knock this crap off”, or to admit “screw it, I’m having a hell of a good time acting this way and have no interest in stopping”. The later choice being that you choose to align yourself with those you seem to want to malign for behaving exactly the same way as yourself, and justify their conduct towards you. Those are the only “sides” of this particular discussion I’m having with you.21-03-2025 13:24

You can only control your own behavior and language. At some point you have to accept that you are no better than the worst of those you have meticulously compiled. You have to admit, at least to yourself, that you really enjoy the comment section road-rage; baiting folks into an argument, being contrarian for no reason, quickly spiraling things into petty bickering and insults, and taking discussion to hateful places it needn’t ever go. Seriously, how many times do you actually read an article before quickly scrolling straight to the comment section and searching for folks you want to throw down with? How often do you scan the list of articles to see how many comments have been left before opening it? It honestly seems you enjoy THIS more than the racing itself. So before trying to pivot off the topic of your personal contribution to the problem by making the argument of “look, they are doing it to”, either accept your own toxic culpability and try to set it aside for a while… …or accept that you are, and likely never will be any better, and sometimes worse, that those you deride and accuse, because THIS, and not racing or LH, is your true joy and passion, and a sad sensory addiction.21-03-2025 12:24

Unfortunately, some folks have little else to contribute but petulance, irrational beliefs, bitter attention seeking behavior, and heaping insults onto anyone who fails to join their cult-like driver love/loathing obsessions.20-03-2025 18:32

Perhaps, but seeing he wasn’t doing the correct things the engineer was compelled to try to direct his actions and offer suggestions. LH was like someone trying to put IKEA furniture together without fully reading the instructions, and then getting mad at their spouse who was reading from the instructions.20-03-2025 19:03

Unfortunately, and for a long time now, Ferrari seems to be the team former world champions go with great fanfare and hopes, only to have them crushed and then retire.20-03-2025 18:19
